When President Donald Trump was considering tariffs, China's aluminum exports rose for third consecutive months, while steel exports dropped to nearly five years.

According to Chinese customs data, the largest aluminum producer in the world has exported 445,000 tons of aluminum in January, up by 14% from the same period of last year. China's domestic aluminum prices were under pressure on record stock levels, and traders found that the overseas market was more profitable. Overseas stock was falling, and the price has fallen in the near future, but it was still relatively high.

Aluminum was a good basic metal in London Metal Exchange (LME) last year, largely due to the expectation that China's efforts to reduce illicit production capacity and controlled winter pollution will lead to tight supply.

However, due to the disappointment of China's winter production limit, and the fear that there will be some new capacity; the performance of aluminum has been lagging behind this year. The price of aluminum on the Shanghai futures exchange fell by 12% at the end of September, and the aluminum price of the LME rose by 3% in the same period a year ago.
