According to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), Australia is likely to face an above average number of cyclones in its tropical season between November and April.

BOM forecast that the oil and gas field and coastal iron ore operations at the northwest offshore will face a 65% chance of being hit by more than seven cyclones.

Queensland, the Northeast region last year, where coal mining was crippled due to heavy flooding partly brought by cyclones, also faces a 65% chance of more than the average of three to four cyclones in the coming cyclone season.
