ArcelorMittal restarting idled No.4 blast furnace at Indiana Harbor mill

4 Aug 2020 15:34 reported by Ellen Huang

A A A
ArcelorMittal is restarting its idled No.4 blast furnace at its Indiana Harbor East Chicago and repairing another blast furnace that was ruined in an explosion at ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor in July.

The idled furnace stopped due to Covid-19 in May when automotive plants worldwide closed for deep cleaning to slow the spread of the virus.

The preparation to restart the two furnaces will allow the company to continue meeting production with customer needs.
