According to the data issued by Vietnam custom, Vietnam imported 6.8 million tons of steel billet and steel products in the first eight months, with totally value at about US$5.7 billion, a 38.7 percent and 81.3 percent up year-on-year respectively.

Vietnam imported 5.9 million tons steel products in the first half year, with worth US$4.5 billion, a 69.3 percent up year-on-year. The average import volume was 980,000 tons per month.

Vietnam’s imports of steel billet and finished steel product totaled 7.7 million tons in 2007 with value of US$4.9 billion.
