According to the statistics from the South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI), Vietnam became the major finished steel exporting country of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with the volume of exportation in 2018 rising by 40.6%.

The total export volume in 2018 was around 6.6 million tons, and in 2017 was around 4.7 million ton. Then, the total finished steel output was around 14.5 million tons in 2018, which increased by 28.6% compared to 2017.

The SEASI said Vietnam steel output grew a lot and most of it was into the exportation market.

Furthermore, the data from the World Steel Association (worldsteel) showed that the total crude steel output from January to May in 2019 reached around 6.8 million tons, up by 37.4% year on year. The export growth might last until 2019.
