According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 495,000 tons of slab in February, falling by 18% compared to the previous month and by 7% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the imports from Brazil accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 374,000 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 11% and a year-on-year drop of 5.5%. Mexico was also one of the import sources with around 96,000 tons.

During the period, the import value totaled approximately US$291 million, up by 7.3% month on month and down by 24% year on year.
