US’ OCTG imports soar in Mar m-o-m

According to preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 144,000 tons of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) in March, significantly rising by 43% compared to the previous month and by 3% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 29,000 tons, a month-on-month surge of 71% and a year-on-year hike of 60%. South Korea ranked second with 27,000 tons, followed by Taiwan’s 21,000 tons and Austria’s 17,000 tons.

The value generated by OCTG imports in March amounted to approximately US$192 million, up by 44% month on month and down by 11% year on year.
