It is reported that the US steel plate market has been underperforming, despite recent US steel price hikes and the investigation of the Section 232. The US hot rolled steel coil price remained steady, that of cold rolls and hot-dip galvanized sheet prices continued falling, the lowest level in nearly two months.

Market participants believed that the price declining mainly caused by the steel imports increased in US. The US steel imports totaled 3.58 million tons in June of this year, hit a new high in 29 months.
