Thailand tinplate producer, Siam Tinplate Co., Ltd. (STP) and Thai Tinplate Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TTP) are preparing to file dumping suit for tinplate imports from Taiwan, South Korea, China and Brazil.

Thailand’s buyers have imported the large quantity of low-cost tinplate products those countries, and it made two of the Thailand tinplate producer, STP and TTP has suffered from sales reduction.

Brazil’s CSI exported around 5,000 tons of tinplate to Thailand each month. Taiwan’s export to Thailand was some 7,268 tons in first half year, when it was 4,124 tons in year 2006.

Therefore, those two companies have requested the Thailand government to warn these four countries in an official form.

Basically, the tinplate supply quantity from STP and TTP would meet with domestic demand. But the market share of the country's 2 tinplate producers has decreased from 80 percent in 2004 to 77 percent in 2006.

Thailand's annual sales for tinplate is 550,000 tons, with annual capacity of 672,000 tons.
