Taiwan’s Tang Eng Iron Works will expand their stainless steel business to the western market. According to Leo Shin, company president, they will focus more on business in European and American markets because of huge amounts of steel available in the Chinese markets. The oversupply in the Chinese market has had a big influence on the stainless steel market. The current price of stainless NO1 is between US$2,050/mt to US$2,100/mt and stainless 2B is US$2,200/mt in Europe. But before Tan Eng can successfully expand their business, they will need to match their wide sizes to European standard size, which means they will increase their wide size from 1230mm to 1250mm.
