Taiwan's anti-dumping duty on China's cold-rolled stainless steel products for another five years has been decided, while some Taiwan's companies have proposed that the existing anti-dumping duties would eliminate the need for the countervailing duty.

In mid-August 2019, at the request of Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco) and Tang Eng Iron Works Co., Ltd., the main upstream stainless steel mills in Taiwan, Taiwan Ministry of Finance conducted anti-dumping investigations on stainless steel cold-rolled products from China and South Korea and finally decided to impose anti-dumping duties for a period of five years. The move followed five years of anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled stainless steel products from the two countries.

In addition, Taiwan has decided to impose an additional countervailing duty on imports of cold-rolled stainless steel products from China, seeking an exemption from the US duties on cold-rolled products from Taiwan.

However, some of Taiwan's companies pointed out that since Taiwan has imposed anti-dumping duties on China's cold-rolled stainless steel products, so it did not need to impose an additional countervailing duty.
