Korea’s STX Shipbuilding Co. is expected to receive a record US$2 billion in new ship orders this year.

The company is seeking to maintain or raise its orders for offshore vessels and plants, and has many deals to win in Brazil, China and Korea. Due to increasing energy development projects, the company expects to experience a faster recovery than the commercial shipbuilding business.

In fact, global shipbuilding industry is facing hard times, as new orders globally only reached 32 units in August.
