In the first half of 2018, Global Ferronickel Holdings (FNI), the world's second-largest nickel producer, shifted its focus to better quality minerals for more competitive price. Nickel production fell to 1.55 million tons, dropped by 19% year on year.

From January to June 2017, the company's total nickel ore exports fell to around 1.9 million tons. FNI stated that the company decided to shift its export focus to high-quality nickel ore in order to maximize profit, which led to a decline in shipments.

This project was the first time for FNI to promote high-quality nickel ore with nickel content of 1.65%, taking advantage of its higher price to earn higher profits.

Despite grim situation in the first half of this year, improving operational efficiency and adapting to market fluctuation has enabled the company to achieve brilliant results.
