Outokumpu revealed plans in November 2023 to restructure its operations in Germany. After negotiations with employee representatives, the company finalized agreements in April 2024 to close down its Dahlerbrück and Hockenheim sites.

The restructuring involves centralizing advanced materials production to Dillenburg, with precision strip operations relocating from Dahlerbrück. Additionally, the coil service center in Hockenheim will cease operations. The closure of Hockenheim is slated for completion by the end of the second quarter of 2024, while Dahlerbrück operations will cease by the end of the year, partially transitioning to the Dillenburg mill.

Thomas Anstots, President of the Advanced Materials business line, emphasized the measures as necessary for long-term competitiveness, aiming for socially responsible implementation. The restructuring is projected to save approximately EUR 15 million annually, with total costs estimated at EUR 28 million.
