Mittal Steel Co announced that they will be shutting down their sheet mill at the company’s Weirton operations. The shutdown of the sheet mill at the operations in West Virginia will result in a loss of around 40 jobs. Last fall the company announced that they will cut around 800 jobs. The shutdown will be completed within 3 months and the mill has already stopped accepting galvanized steel or steel coated in zinc protective layer orders. The plant will now focus mainly on the production of tin plate. (Feb. 3)
