The steel price in the European and Asian markets is expected to rise again next spring. This according to news from MEPS. The reduction in production from many major producers will play a big role in the strengthening price. The price in North America however is expected to drop because of the low priced steel imports. In the European market, stock levels in the third quarter are low and production will be reduced for the fourth quarter. Therefore the pressure from imports from Asia is relatively low for the period. The price of flat steel products is expected to rise due to the increasing demand from the construction industry. In the Asian market, the steel price is expected to rise for the reduction from next February on when the stock levels are low. In North America, the big price gap from foreign traders in flat steel products will affect the market. The long steel market will stabilize because of the reconstruction after the hurricanes in Southern US. (Nov.10)
