Austrian steelmaker Marienhütte has commissioned Italian equipment supplier Danieli to upgrade the largest part of the finishing area of the bar line at Graz works.

The upgrade will enable the mill to process bars up to 72 meters long, compared to the previous under 40 meters, and 8-40 mm in diameter, reaching production speeds of 60 meters per second. The new fully automated equipment will enhance Marienhütte's production flexibility and reduce overall costs to meet changing market demands.

The project involves dismantling, installation, and starting up operations during a scheduled three-week shutdown of the plant. The launch is scheduled for early 2026.
