Japanese major carmakers Toyota, Honda, and Nissan announced on February 19 that as storms in North America caused short of natural gas in Mexico, they decided to stop part of their business in Mexico.

The storms stopped gas transport from Texas, so the Mexican government requested auto manufacturers and other industries reduce their gas consumption.

The auto industries are facing the problem of auto chip shortage and this storm made the situation worse. Besides, the earthquake last week also caused Toyota and Nissan to suspend their production in Japan.
