According to data from the Brazilian Steel Institute (IABr), Brazil's crude steel production reached 3 million tons in July this year, an increase of 14.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.

From January to July this year, Brazil produced 21 million tons of crude steel, an increase of 22% from the same period last year.

This performance led IABr to revise its forecast for the growth of steel apparent consumption in 2021 from 15% to 24%, which should reach 26.6 million tons.

Marco Polo de Mello Lopes, executive president of IABr, commented that the figures showed that the Brazilian steel industry is producing and serving its customers in volumes higher than pre-pandemic.
