Arcelor Brasil’s Cia Siderúrgica de Tubarão (CST) unit is looking to start production of value added hot rolled coils in March. The company plans to produce the coils that will then be processed into heavy plate for use in the shipbuilding industry. The products will only be sold in the domestic market but later it will also be available for export. CST and Belgo-Arcelor will work together to produce the product. The coils produced by CST will then be sold to Belgo-Arcelor who will then process it shipbuilding heavy plate. The company also expects to have a long term contract from Asia. Its hot-rolled coils' supply range is in thickness 6.3 to 16mm and the maximum width is 1.88m. (Mar. 2)
