Corus, one of the units of Tata Steel Group, has announced on Thursday to slash 400 jobs at its distribution section across Britain since it said the operation is now in a “volatile and fluctuating” market.

As the company is facing the economic downturn, it has experienced the demand for steel from automotive, construction, plant and machinery sectors dropped sharply.

Although Corus Distribution has tried several approaches to lower its expense on transport, consumables and energy and other discretionary, those actions alone are not enough to compensate its decline in the markets.
