Currently, domestic GI price has increased to US$1,280/ton on average in South Korea market.

However, China’s price is only US$1,100/ton FOB. Accordingly, the market analyst forecasted that there will be more and more China’s GI imports in local market in the future.

Although GI product imports from China dropped sharply to 15,400 tons in the first half 2008, by 77 percent, people in the market thought that GI products from China will keep increasing, since GI prices of other regions, such as Europe and America, are still much higher than local mills’ prices.
