Due to the excellent anti-corrosion and mechanical properties, various stainless steel products are widely applied in home appliance and household utensils. The steel product volume used in home electric appliance in China is expected to total about 5.6 million tons in 2006. Among this, stainless steel accounts 370, 000 tons with silicon steel accounting for around 880, 000 tons. Air conditioners, refrigerators and microwave ovens take the main consumption, accounting for 80 percent of the total volume. Chinese domestic stainless steel manufactures such as Tisco is looking forward to enlarging this industry. (Nov. 17)
