Baker Hughes: US’ rig counts fall, Canada’s increase w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on May 16, 2025, the US rig count fell by two to 576 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas dropped by one to 100 units, and that for oil decreased by one to 473 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 28 units or 5%.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count rose by seven to 121 units from the previous week, including 74 oil rigs (up by six week on week) and 47 gas rigs (up by one week on week). Canada’s rig number hike by seven units compared to the same period a year ago.
