On May 26, 2025, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission announced the initiation of an anti-dumping (AD) review investigation on steel reinforcing bar (rebar) from China. This review was launched based on an application from Chinese exporter Baowu Group Echeng Iron and Steel Co Ltd.

The investigation will examine whether variable factors related to the current AD measures on rebar with a diameter of 50mm or less should be varied.

The review period is from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. The Commission expects to complete its Statement of Essential Facts (SEF) by September 15, 2025, and submit its final report to the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science by October 28, 2025.
