As the international steel market strengthens, Japan’s tin plate manufacturers are planning to increase their prices by US$30/ton for the second quarter. At present, Japanese 0.21mm tin plate is at around US$925 to 950/ton FOB. South Korea is currently in negotiations with Taiwan for the price of tin sheet for the second quarter and the price is expected to be at around US$950/ton FOB. Traders pointed out that demand from Asia and South America is very active and steel manufacturers intend to increase the price. But some people believed that tin sheet price is expected to rebound but not too strongly. (Apr. 10)
