ArcelorMittal reminded the risk of long steel products overcapacity in Europe. As recently said that European long steel products are facing serious overcapacity problems.

In 2007, the demand of long steel products in Europe was 73 million tons, and its capacity utilization rate reached 80%. Till 2017, European capacity utilization rate was down to 65% and demands low to 57 million tons.

Besides, the large imported volume was also the big problem to the market. This year, the imported long steel products was estimated to exceed 7 million tons, and the proportion to the total has risen from 5.5% to 12.2%.

In order to salve the problem of overcapacity and large imported volume, ArcelorMittal shifted its focus on high value-added steel products and its market share has reached 37% last year.
