Alcoa said on Tuesday that the company will temporarily close Suralco bauxite and alumina refinery in Suriname.

A year ago, the alumina refinery had ceased production.

The company said the company generated $90 million in spending for Suriname Suralco project reforming in Q4,2016.

The refinery was shut down in 2015, due to the lack of bauxite supply, the annual alumina production capacity is 2 million 200 thousand tons.

The Suralco project is part of Alcoa's AWAC company. Alcoa has a 60% stake in AWAC, while the remaining shares held by AluminaLimited.

Alcoa said,the company is holding talks on the project with suriname government.
