Duferco, a Luxembourg-based steel manufacturer, announced that German steel plant maker SMS Group will build a new beam rolling mill for its San Zeno Naviglio plant in Brescia, northern Italy, within two years, which will be entirely powered by green energy.

This investment project was expected to cost 180 million euros and would create 150 jobs. It was understood that this rolling mill can produce 1.5 million tons of long products each year, which would greatly increase Duferco's competitiveness and expand market opportunities.

In addition, natural gas and hydrogen walking beam furnaces included in the project would be provided by an Italian company, Forni Industriali Bendotti, which would help to reduce carbon emissions during production.
