Japan's Ministry of Finance announced on June 20 that it will levy 95.2% anti-dumping (AD) duties on graphite electrodes from China, effective July 3 for five years. This measure aims to safeguard Japan's domestic industry from damage caused by low-priced imports.

The products involved are cylindrical graphite electrodes, generally black, of various sizes, classified under HS code 8545.11.010, primarily used in electric arc furnaces for steel production.

According to the official announcement, compared with the normal price with the export price to Japan, the export price was lower than the normal price, so it was determined that the goods were imported at an unfair price with a calculated price difference of 104.61%.
