On July 15, 2025, the European Commission initiated an investigation into whether existing anti-dumping (AD) duties on threaded tube or pipe cast fittings of malleable cast iron from China and Thailand are being circumvented.

The probe is based on a complaint from the Ad Hoc Defence Committee of Tube or Pipe Cast Fittings, an EU industry association, which alleged that Chinese exporters are avoiding AD duties by exporting unthreaded tube or pipe cast fittings of malleable cast iron and doing minimal assembly within the EU.

There is evidence that following the imposition of AD duties, there has been a shift in products from threaded to unthreaded, undermining the effectiveness of the current measures.

The products involved in the possible circumvention are unthreaded tube or pipe cast fittings, of malleable cast iron, under TARIC codes 7307 19 10 35 and 7307 19 10 45.

The Commission has ordered the registration of imports for these unthreaded fittings, allowing for retroactive duties if circumvention is confirmed.

The investigation is expected to conclude within nine months.
