MEPS, a leading independent supplier of steel market information forecasted that the global stainless steel output would reach another new record of 34 million tons in 2012, up by 6% year on year, in spite of downward trend in global economy.

The global crude stainless steel production hit an all-time high of 32.1 million tons in 2011, rising by 3.3% year on year.

Among them, only the EU and South Korea produced more than the previous year’s output. The US, Japan and Taiwan all produced less than the production in a year earlier.
