US stainless exports decrease in August

The data showed that US exported 39,300 tons stainless steel in August, up by 17 percent year-on-year, but in 9 percent drop compared to July this year.
More than half of August’s exports went to Canada and Mexico and the most increased export item was the cold rolled sheets which jumped by 33 percent to total 14,750 tons than 2006. On the other hand, there is a 14 percent decrease year-on-year in hot rolled sheet exports.
For cold rolled narrow strip, the exports dropped by 25% mainly to Canada, Mexico and Germany. Other products like medium plate and coiled plate are also exported less than last month. In general, the performance of US exports still remains at a higher level than last year.
