Outokumpu plans to boost stainless steel production

Finland’s stainless steel producer, Outokumpu, plans to expand its stainless steel production largely.

The company plans to invest €550 million on expanding the stainless steel special grades capacity of Sweden’s Avesta up to 650,000 tons by 2010. Besides, Outokumpu is also considering to build service centers in Italy and China.

According to the plan, Outokumpu will pour €70 million to rebuild the Italian service center to increase its sales volume from 40,000 tons to 11,000 tons. And in China they will invest €20 million on building service center in Shanghai.
