Hydnum Steel, the first green steelmaker on the Iberian Peninsula, and Gonvarri Industries, a global leader in metal transformation, have signed a EUR 1 billion deal for green steel supply for an initial seven-year period.

Hydnum Steel’s upcoming Puertollano plant, with a 2.6-million-ton annual capacity, will make it Spain's top decarbonized steel producer.

The partnership supports sustainable industries like construction, energy, and automotive while positioning Spain as a green steel leader in Europe. Besides, the two companies will also optimize logistics and develop low-CO2 transport.

Hydnum Steel CEO Eva Maneiro and Gonvarri CEO Josu Calvo emphasized the importance of green steel in driving innovation and meeting sustainability goals.
