Turkey imports fewer HRC in Jan-Nov 2024

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports reached around 3.3 million tons in the first 11 months of 2024, falling by 16% compared to the year-ago period. The import value dropped by 22% year on year to US$2.1 billion.

Among them, the supply from China accounted for the largest share, totaling roughly 1.6 million tons, up by 9.2% year on year. Egypt ranked second with 568,000 tons, a year-on-year surge of 150%, followed by Russia’s 437,000 tons with a year-on-year drop of 27%.

In November alone, Turkey imported around 366,000 tons of HRC, rising by 33% month on month and by 30% year on year. The value generated by these imports was US$204 million, up by 23% from the preceding month and by 12% year on year.
