US reports increase in scrap exports in Nov 2024

According to statistics from the US International Trade Commission, the US exported around 1.3 million tons of scrap in November last year, hiking by 8.5% compared to the previous month and by 6.5% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, exports to Turkey accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 367,000 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 4.3% and a year-on-year hike of 25%. India, Mexico, and Bangladesh were also major buyers of US scrap, with separate volumes of around 199,000 tons, 150,100 tons, and 150,000 tons.

During the period, these scrap exports were worth approximately US$552 million, up by 9.8% month on month and by 8.6% year on year.
