Argentina lifts export restrictions on scrap and metal waste

6 Jan 2025 15:26 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Federico Sturzenegger, the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation of Argentina, announced that the government has lifted the export restrictions on scrap and metal waste, which had been prohibited since January 2009 to protect the local steel industry.

The renewed measure aims to promote recycling, create economic opportunities for small and medium-sized companies, and open up new international markets. Besides, the government believed the measure could also have a positive impact on the trade balance, making recyclable materials a source of revenue for the country.
