On November 29, 2024, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission made a preliminary ruling, finding that the variable factors in determining dumping duty payable under the Customs Tariff (Anti-Dumping) Act 1975 (Dumping Duty Act) in relation to anti-dumping measures applicable to hot rolled structural steel sections from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand have changed.

As a result, the Commissioner proposed to adjust the rate of dumping duties as follows: Japan is 15.8% (up from the current 12.2%). South Korea’s Hyundai Steel is 7.0% (up from the current 5.2%), and all other South Korea’s exporters receive 12.5% (up from the current 7.9%). Taiwan’s Dragon Steel is 7.0% (down from the current 9%), and all other Taiwan’s exporters receive 10.8% (down from the current 12.3%). Thailand’s Siam Yamato Steel (SYS) and all other exporters will be subject to 5.7% (down from the current 7.8% to SYS and 7.7% to other exporters).

These anti-dumping measures apply to all exporters from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan, while Taiwan's Feng Hsin Steel, TS Steel, and Tung Ho Steel are excluded from the measures.
