The European Commission has begun registering hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports from Egypt, India, Japan, and Vietnam as part of an ongoing anti-dumping investigation. This registration will last for nine months, allowing the potential retroactive collection of anti-dumping duties if deemed necessary.

The measure aims to curb any surge in HRC imports from these countries before an official anti-dumping ruling is in place. The European Steel Association estimates dumping margins of 30-40% for Egypt, 10-20% for Japan, around 10% for India, and 5-15% for Vietnam.

The investigation, which began in August, is expected to conclude within a year, with provisional duties possibly being imposed within seven to eight months.
