US' scrap exports decrease in Mar m-o-m & y-o-y

According to the United States International Trade Commission (USITC), in March, the United States exported approximately 1.15 million tons of scrap, declining by 7.2% from the previous month and by 21.5% from the same period a year ago. The value during the same time was around US$530 million, compared with a month ago was about US$555 million and US$651 million in March 2023.

Turkey was the largest export destination of US scrap steel with roughly 258,000 tons in March, dropping by 44.2% month on month and by 26.3% year on year. Followed by Mexico (189,000 tons), Bangladesh (162,000), Taiwan (113,000 tons), and Peru (77,000 tons).
