Nornickel’s nickel output slides in Q2 q-o-q due to annual maintenance at Finland’s refinery

3 Aug 2022 16:09 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Norilsk Nickel (Nornickel), a Russian nickel and palladium mining and smelting company, reported that its nickel production totaled around 48,500 tons in the second quarter of this year, down by 6% compared to the previous quarter, due to the scheduled annual maintenance at its Finland’s Harjavalta refinery in June.

The nickel output in the first half of this year amounted to nearly 100,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 26%, due to a lower base in the same period in 2021, when the Oktyabrsky and Taimyrsky mines were suspended due to natural groundwater inflow and an accident at the Norilsk Concentrator.
