According to statistics from South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI), the six countries' steel demand in the first half of 2021 reached 38 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.1%. The demand in Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam was the same as the level in the pre-epidemic period.

In addition to a year-on-year 4.8% drop in the Philippines, Vietnam's steel demand rose by 13.3% year on year to 12.7 million tons, Thailand's total steel demand rose by 25% to 10 million tons, and Indonesia's grew by 12% to 6.5 million tons.

Meanwhile, steel demand in Malaysia and Singapore totaled 3.6 million tons and 1.3 million tons, respectively.
