11 May 2021 15:22 reported by Joy Liu
According to statistics, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 2.5 million tons in the first quarter of this year, hiking by 25% compared to the same period a year ago. Among them, the imports from Brazil accounted for the largest proportion, totaling 1.25 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.6%. Russia ranked second with roughly 372,000 tons, up by 66% year on year.
The increase in Turkey’s first-quarter iron ore imports was due to a sharp hike in the country’s crude steel output driven by the active global steel market.
In the first quarter of 2021, Turkey totaling produced 9.8 million tons of crude steel, growing by 9.5% year on year.
