It was reported that Koc Metalurji, a steel producer in Turkey, has once again extended its suspension of operations for another month.

The plant is in the city of Osmaniye, Turkey’s Iskenderun region, and it will not be producing crude steel in June due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Koc Metalurji had temporarily suspended its steel production on April 7th and at that time it claimed the shutdown would only last one month. However, the suspension period might be extended to three months. The reopening will be depended on the market situation and the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Koc Metalurji's liquid steel capacity is 1.2 million tons at its Osmaniye-based steel mill and 550,000 tons of rebar production capacity at its İskenderun-based plant.
