According to the Argentine Chamber of Steel (CAA), the country's crude steel production was 298,000 tons this January, a fallen of 19.6% compared to the same month of 2019.

2020 began with the same trend with which 2019 ended. Iron production fell 17.2% year-on-year and hot-rolled production fell by 4%. However, cold-rolled production had a good result with an increase of 51.7%, reached 120,000 tons.

Among all sectors that consume steel, CAA did not see positive expectations in the construction sector because there were no major construction works, but they did perceive improvements in the automotive industry that grew by 39.7%.

In the agricultural machinery sector, there are optimistic perspectives for the imminent campaign and in the household appliances sector, the reactivation has already started at the end of last year.
