SSAB sees steady performance in North American business for Q3 2019

The Swedish steelmaker SSAB said its North America business would stay relatively good in the third quarter of this year as the shipment would be at a similar level as the second quarter of this year, but prices were expected to drop from the previous quarter.
In the second quarter of this year, SSAB Americas shipped around 475,000 tons of its steel products, a drop of 6.7% from the same period of last year, and the decline was 5% if compared to the first quarter of this year.
The main reason for the decline was distributors of North America were careful about steel procurement and destocking as prices of heavy plate, the main product of SSAB Americas, plummeted during the period.
