The United States (US) suspended to impose section 232 tariffs on aluminum and steel from Canada and Mexico. Some market participants indicated that the US and North America trade partner must prevent the surge of steel products flooding into the US.
The president of Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA), which represented steel mills in the US, said that the US' section 232 tariffs was helpful to the domestic manufacturers, but there must be some further powerful measures to prevent the domestic industry from being seriously injured again during tariff exemptions.
Recently, the US not only cancelled the retaliatory tariff on Canada and Mexico but also not to conduct the import quota restriction.
It was reported that the latest agreement would promote the further cooperation with the above countries in order to resolve the transshipment, import surges, and other related issues in the future.
