EU flat steel distributors' shipments decline by 4.5% in Q1 2019

According to the report, the European flat steel distributors' shipment in the first quarter of this year decreased by 4.5% compared with the same period last year.

The shipment continued to decline at the end of last year coincide with the inventory to boost. Especially the flat steel product was mainly used in the automotive industry. Therefore, the reduction in demand will affect the flat steel market gradually.

The inventory in the trade center kept on a level of around 69 months in the first quarter of this year, compared to 64 months in the same period a year ago.

The shipment of composite product also declined by 3.4% in the first quarter. On the contrary, section steel, rebar, hot-rolled coil, and sheet had a good performance in the shipment compared to the previous period.

Some market participants indicated that the rebar demand would remain essentially stable at present.
