US lowers special tariff on Turkish steel to 25%

17 May 2019 16:46 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
According to an official announcement issued by the White House on Thursday (May 16th), the special tariff on Turkish steel will be lowered to 25% from May 21st, which was the same as the tariffs on other countries. The US has raised the special tariff on Turkish steel to 50% last year.

The Trump administration said that the reason for the adjustment of special tariff on Turkish steel was that the steel imports from Turkey has fallen sharply, and the capacity utilization of the US steel industry has almost risen to the target level recommended by the US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.
